Parodies in Seoul

Sometimes things are just better as a parody.

Last year The Maze Runner came out in theatres.

Based on a YA novel, a kid finds himself trapped, like the proverbial lab rat in a giant maze along with others like him that don't remember their pasts.  The film had promise, and I enjoyed watching it, even though I suspected that it might go the way of depressing post-apocalyptic very quickly.  I never got around to reading the original novel, but I probably should - they're almost always better than the movie.

All this to say that there's a sequel to the film that just came out:  The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials which stars most of the original cast including the charismatic Korean (who also grew up in New Zealand and the U.S.) actor Lee Hong Ki (or as he's known in English-speaking countries: Ki Hong Lee.)

Here's a look at the trailer.

I bring this up, because random googling brought up a video called "Seoul Running" which proved to be an AMAZING parody of the new film, produced by the production company: 20th Century Fox which manages to not only turn the serious and possibly angsty film (I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet) into massive hilarity it ALSO manages to Lampshade/Shout-Out/Parody the following:
Look for Nichkhun as a very small child, Taecyeon as a menacing octopus-wielding chef, NS Yoon as a sexy distraction and Korean-Japanese musician Yasuo Namekawa (known in Korea as Kangnam of M.I.B.) and several others.

It's worth watching twice just to see how well they got the details.

Then, if you're a dork like me:
Watch the making of...
